Ms. Kathy’s Keyboard Lessons (acoustic or digital piano)
Kathy Kaneda is a musician, pianist, and teacher. She graduated from West Chester University in Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Music Education. Her upbringing was outside of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania
Kathy won a Leon Fleisher Scholarship which earned her the opportunity to study with one of the late Leon Fleisher students and perform at Peabody Conservatory. She has taken lessons with the late Arno Drucker, the pianist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and performed many concertos with him and solo repertoire. She now studies with Lura Johnson, the pianist for the Baltimore and Delaware Symphony Orchestras. She is a member of the National Music Teacher’s Association, the Maryland Music Teacher’s Association, and the Baltimore County Chapter of the Maryland Music Teachers Association.
She taught band and orchestral instruments for Harford and Baltimore County Schools. She conducted band and orchestra concerts each year. She is a member of the American Music Educators Association.
Kathy teaches students of all ages 6-106 (home schoolers and adults included) and all styles of music and music theory. She teaches daytime and afternoon hours during the week. Her studio has two pianos, a Steinway grand piano and an upright piano. This enables ensemble and two piano music lessons. Her studio is located off I-695 ½ mile from Exit 20.
Students have been taught from Pikesville, Owings Mills, Reisterstown, Randallstown, McDonogh area, Ruxton, Timonium, Lutherville, and Towson. Students have performed and were adjudicated at CCBC Essex and McDanial College in Westminster. Many have earned awards.
